Just cruise along our coastlines and quiet country roads, and the Mornington Peninsula's love affair with wine, fresh produce and bountiful food on the table quickly becomes obvious. Just over an hours drive south-east of Melbourne the landscape has a delightfully European air. You almost have to look twice to see you really are in Victoria, Australia. Silvery olive groves, rolling hills laced with vineyards, waterfront cafes and restaurants, roadside signs for fresh produce, and lively local markets featuring just-picked and just-made gourmet food.

You can pick your own or buy a lot of fresh seasonal produce at the farm gate including plump berries or luscious cherries during summer, autumnal apples, winter vegetables & olives, and more.

There is an array of dining experiences across the region. From casual cafes to excellent hotels & fine dining restaurants, some overlooking the water and others with views of vines. Its not surprising that many high-profile Melbourne chefs have discovered the joys of living - and cooking - on the Peninsula, using the organic vegetables, aged meats, seasonal fruits, olive oil, seafood, preserves, local cheese and coffee roasted on demand.

Much of this produce is available locally - look for the Mornington Peninsula Gourmet brand at retail outlets, restaurants, cafes and farm gates - it's your assurance of top quality from proud & passionate MPGourmet members. Produce is also showcased at gourmet events throughout the year, while the biannual Mornington Peninsula Gourmet Awards recognise outstanding regional achievement.

Of course with so much to taste and explore, you may need to stay a while…
