Hickinbotham of Dromana

Hickinbotham of Dromana is a small family run business. Established in 1988 by Andrew and Terryn Hickinbotham, Andrew being a third generation winemaker. The property at Dromana consists of a 15 acre vineyard, surrounded by open grass woodlands with a large ornamental dam. Five acres of the property is dedicated to "Land for Wild Life" and contains important remnant bush.There are eight grape varieties grown on the property, being Pinot Noir, Cabernet Savignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Taminga (a new Australian variety - a cross between Riesling and Gewertztraminer) and Aligote (a French variety - the only known plantings in Australia). In the vineyard, organic practices are used and the wine is made with minimal preservatives.The Cellar Door is open daily from 11.00am, where visitors can sample the wide range of wines, strawberry and cherry elixers, cabernet juice and the famous strawberry kiss sparkling wine. And in more recent times, beer, which is brewed on sight. There you can have a chat with Andrew, Terryn or one of the friendly cellar door staff. In winter, visitors are welcomed by the crackling fire and the laid back rustic setting of the Hickinbotham Café and Winery. The rustic café is open every weekend from 12 noon and features food influenced by local produce and their own kitchen garden.  A must try is the freshly baked wine-bread, and of course the wines and beer . Live music is featured every Sunday from 1.00pm.Functions, weddings and conferences by arrangement.
