TURNING UP THE HEAT!
5th March 2010
It
is now only days to the closing of entries for the annual prestigious
Mornington Peninsula Regional Awards for Excellence – 5pm, Friday February 26.
Mornington Peninsula Gourmet together with Restaurant &
Catering Victoria have been delighted with the response to these Awards in
2010.
This
is the third year the two associations have joined forces to present the
Awards, where two experienced judges visit each venue and anonymously rate the
business to the nationally recognised Restaurant & Catering Evaluation
System standard.
Cafes,
restaurants and dining establishments throughout the region will be vying for
honours in this year’s Awards, which recognise the work that goes on in the
regional food scene. There are seven
different dining categories as well as regionally specific categories for
gourmet retail outlets.
“These
Awards recognise excellence across a broad range of dining experiences. We are also recognising the individual
elements that go into creating a great dining experience, such as good coffee,
front of house service, local wine lists and other factors that make dining on
the Mornington Peninsula a sense of occasion. We encourage those food related businesses
that have not yet entered the 2010 Awards to do so now”, said Kevin Wyatt, President of MP Gourmet.
The
Regional Awards culiminate in a Gala presentation night on July 12, with a menu
created by past winners. Winners and
top ranked finalists of the Mornington Peninsula Regional Awards then progress
to the Victorian Awards for Excellence held in August. Winners of those Awards will then progress
to the Savour Australia National Awards for Excellence to be held in
October. In 2009, three Mornington Peninsula
representatives won State categories and Two Buoys Café of Dromana was judged
the 2009 Best Café Restaurant in Australia
