Peninsula Hot Springs was last night named Winner in the Health and Wellbeing Category of the Victorian Tourism Awards during the industry’s annual gala event at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium.
“This award marks an important milestone along our journey to become one of the top five Spa & Wellbeing facilities in the world,” Director Charles Davidson said.
“This is a celebration for the entire Mornington Peninsula as a Spa and Wellness industry destination.
“In the past 10 years the peninsula has rapidly grown as a centre of spa excellence within easy reach of Melbourne.”
Congratulating Peninsula Hot Springs Tourism Victoria Chief Executive Mark Stone said the awards are instrumental in encouraging a dynamic and competitive tourism industry.
“These awards recognise the best tourist experiences across our state and highlight the quality and diversity of tourism experiences we have on our doorstep in Victoria,” Mr Stone said.
“These awards celebrate the achievements of all those who have worked so hard to make Victoria a world-class tourism destination.”
More than 130 tourism operators competed in 26 business categories, with another three individual and group awards presented at a gala ceremony on 15 November.
Peninsula Hot Springs General Manager Norm Cleland said: “The award is testimony to the care, attention to detail and passion of all team members through what was a momentous year of change and expansion – a stirling effort all round.
“My congratulations go to the whole team at Peninsula Hot Springs for their dedication and continual pursuit of providing the most relaxing and enjoyable spa and wellbeing experience in the state.”
Mr Davidson said that picking up top honours in the Health and Wellbeing category of the tourism awards was also “recognition of the opening of the new Bath House facility in the past year and our vastly expanded offering of services”.
Mr Davidson said the award also recognised the hot springs’ efforts in encouraging and growing a “broader spa market” in Victoria: “The spa market is not limited to the provision of luxury pampering services for individuals and couples, but is also an environment that can welcome families and the broader community in an enjoyable, healthy social experience.”
Since opening Stage 2 works in December last year, Peninsula Hot Springs has been able to offer the parallel experiences of tranquility (with its private Spa Dreaming Centre) and social (with the new Bath House pools).
Australasian Spa Association President Karen Goudge said Peninsula Hot Springs “have worked hard in developing a fabulous natural bathing experience.”
“It is also fabulous to see a ‘Health & Wellbeing’ category within the tourism awards, so I commend Victoria Tourism on recognising the growth and benefits of the spa industry. May this award bring many guests to their doors, as Peninsula Hot Spring is deserving.”
