MP Regional Awards for Excellence

With so many wonderful restaurants, cafes and dining experiences available across the Mornington Peninsula, it was only natural to want to officially celebrate them.  In 2006 MPGourmet implemented an awards program to acknowledge gourmet dining excellence across the region.  Multiple criteria based on quality industry standards were established and these are used to judge a wide range of aspects including food presentation, local content, value for money, and more. 

In 2008 MPGourmet joined forces with Restaurant and Catering Victoria to create the Mornington Peninsula Regional Awards for Excellence.  These now annual awards have a wide range of categories covering all sorts of dining experiences from cafe, pizza, Asian, modern Australian, and restaurant in a winery to fine dining (and everything in between).  There are additional awards for customer services , great coffee, local produce, and local wine lists.  Every nominated venue across the region is independently judged and a confidential report prepared for the business to use for continuous improvement. 

With help from valuable business partner sponsors, the finalists and winners are celebrated with a wonderful presentation night showcasing the best regional produce, prepare by the best regional chefs, and matched by the best regional wines.  A gourmet event to remember!

Winners of the Mornington Peninsula Awards for Excellence, then progress to the Victorian Awards for Excellence (coordinated by Restaurant & Catering Victoria).  Winners from the Victorian awards progress to the Australian Awards for Excellence (coordinated by Restaurant & Catering Australia).  Its very exciting to note that Mornington Peninsula has been well represented at both Victorian and Australian Awards in the past few years!
