With so many local people passionate about regional food, it was only natural to want to officially celebrate the many excellent gourmet experiences on the Mornington Peninsula. In 2006 a biannual awards program was implemented to acknowledge gourmet accomplishments across the region. Multiple criteria based on quality industry standards were established, and these were used to judge a wide range of aspects including food presentation, local content, value for money, and more.

Categories covered all styles of dining from simple café to restaurants with fine dining, along with recognition of great coffee, customer service, local producers and local wine lists. Every nominated venue from across the region was independently judged and, with help from valuable sponsors, the finalists and winners were celebrated at a huge Gala Dinner showcasing the best regional produce matched by the best regional wines. A gourmet event to remember!

Participants are recognizable throughout the Mornington Peninsula by the MPGourmet Awards logo on the door – discover your own award nomination as you enjoy some of the culinary delights this region has to offer.

In 2007 MPGourmet hosts the inaugural MP Chefs Table and the MPGourmet Pantry Cook-Off.
